Throughout the day, youth spend time in a number of formal and informal settings that can support social and emotional learning—classrooms, lunchrooms, playgrounds and afterschool programs—to name a few. How do the characteristics of those settings influence social and emotional development? This workshop will engage participants in a discussion of how learning happens across the many settings where youth spend their time. It will feature a new case study from the National Commission on Social Emotional and Academic Development, which describes Tacoma, Washington’s Whole Child Initiative.
